Corporate Social Responsibility

Optimis is a small business but one that recognises the importance of working with the community, either in a professional context or in terms of giving back.

We are extremely proud to have won awards that have recognised our contribution to the community. Most recently we are proud to have won runner up for Community Business of the year at the 2014 Bedfordshire Federation of Small Business awards.

We have sponsored a number of Sports Aid functions, or other charity events, raising money for good causes, but also invest financially in local sports teams.

For the past 5 years we have provided sporting equipment for the Oakley Saturday Football Club, an organisation that provides structured football coaching for over 80 children between 5 and 10 years old as well as for the Bedford Academy of Football.

Primarily we provide time and professional advice in various ways to assist local communities in preventing or supporting development and give voluntary advice to parish councils on their Neighbourhood Plan.

We also assist local schools in encouraging students to join the profession and we were pleased to undertake a series of lessons for Year 7 pupils at Lincroft School in Oakley, presenting Town and Country Planning to aid the understanding of settlement expansion, a core subject in the children’s syllabus.

One of the team attended a week long voluntary excursion to Rwanda in Central Africa, to work with the Mayor of Kigali to find opportunities to regenerate the poor residential areas in the town and find a mechanism for encouraging growth through development.

We have provided other voluntary assistance during working hours for the Bedford Girls School Alumni, We Are Bedford, TEDX Bedford, Bedfordshire Architects Association, BNI Enterprise and one of the team has recently performed at the Bedford Charity Pantomime.

We therefore not only invest money, but considerable amounts of time into the community because our expertise can provide considerable assistance to local people.
