Community scheme approved in Shillington

Optimis is extremely delighted to have secured planning permission from Central Bedfordshire Council, on behalf of Rowan Homes, for 19 dwellings including affordable housing and a new community centre.  The application was unanimously approved by committee in November 2015, but is still subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement.

This project was formed at the outset as a community project.  We engaged extensively with the community and statutory bodies with stakeholders such as the Parish Council, Village Hall Management Committee, Memorial Playing Field Committee, Shillington Social Club, Architects and Highways.

The scheme will bring a considerable amount of benefits to the community, not only providing additional housing that is needed in the Borough, including affordable bungalows, but also a new, purpose-built community facility that will create a hub for community activities, sports and social gatherings, designed with the needs of all the user groups in mind.
