House collapses during basement conversion

The £3.8 million house where the singer Duffy formerly lived and the rules of football were first written has collapsed.

The townhouse, in Barnes, south west London, had been having work done on it by current owner, David Kassler, former Phones4u CEO, when it crumbled to the ground.

The current owners of the Georgian home, submitted plans to have a basement extension which included a home cinema, gym and “wine room”.
