Optimis wins appeal for clients' extension

Optimis is very pleased to have won an appeal for a client that sought to build a rear extension to his house using Permitted Development rights.

Due to the complexity of Permitted Development requirements Harrow Council did not accept the legislation had been complied with, work had already taken place and therefore a retrospective planning application was required.  Optimis Consulting helped the client submit the application which Harrow Council refused but they based on a range of out-dated policies and guidance and furthermore they did not consider recent changes to Permitted Development rights.

Optimis Consulting helped the clients’ appeal the decision demonstrating the effect on neighbour’s amenity was acceptable and the householders extension was in character with the area.

The Planning Inspectorate accepted the arguments put forward by Optimis Consulting and the green light was given for the extension to proceed.
