Proposed residential development brings new community facilities to Shillington

Optimis is excited to have submitted two planning applications to Central Bedfordshire Council on behalf of Rowan Homes and if given approval will provide a number of enhanced community facilities to the village of Shillington and surrounding areas.

To improve sports and community facilities, a new community centre will be built to replace the village hall and the existing club house. The new purpose-built community centre will include a new sports hall with kitchen, a bar and lounge area, changing rooms, meetings rooms and an office for the Parish Clerk. The new community centre is enabled by the construction of 19 dwellings including 8 affordable houses and bungalows off High Road.

We worked closely with Rowan Homes and representatives of the village over the past 4 years and engaged extensively with the community and various stakeholders such as Shillington Village Hall, Shillington Memorial Playing Field and Shillington Parish Council through meetings, consultations and public exhibitions. We helped ensure that the overriding interests of the whole community were considered.

You can view the proposed planning applications on the Central Bedfordshire Council website by inserting the following references CB/15/02102/FULL, CB/15/02104/FULL in the application quick search field at http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/PLANTECH/DCWebPages/acolnetcgi.gov

Once approved the facilities should be delivered during 2016.
